VERY GOOD: This is a tapas restaurant, small tastings and wine pairings. The food here was excellent, the portions were a little small and the prices were high. Since we don't spend this much on dinner very often it was definitely a treat. You could tell they used quality ingredients and really cared about food presentation. We sat at the bar and had an excellent experience. Our bartender knew his wine and his food. Everything we tasted was delicious, we had the following; arugula and endive salad, goat cheese gnocchi, wok charred cauliflower, cheese plate and the truffled french fries.
Willis Wine Bar
Good: Camping in wine country and California in general is expensive so we were happy to find this place. It is first come first serve only so get there early. Parking is on gravel but there are hook ups, laundry and restrooms and you are close to the wineries; which let's be honest is why we were in this area of the country. The less we spent on camping the more we had for wine tasting. We felt comfortable here even though there were no trees because it was cool outside. Sites are fairly close together but we spent most of our time driving through the vineyards, along the coast and visiting wineries. The RV Parks in Northern CA wine country average $50.00 - $100.00 per night. $17.50 first night with Passport America, $35.00 per night after.
Sonoma County Fairgrounds RV Park
GOOD: Would give this a higher rating but it is right by the highway. The facilities here are some of the nicest we have seen. This is a newer park with a modern pool/spa and the furnishings are beautiful. The bathrooms have chandeliers, individual shower stalls with granite countertops and sinks. There is also a small bar on property that is open certain nights of the weeks. This is a typical resort when it comes to the sites. They are not on top of each other but are closer than we would like. Best part they take Passport America $25.00 per night for full hook ups, cable and wifi.
EXCELLENT: The first time we ate at this restaurant was 14 years ago when we got married in Carmel. Since we are from Florida we have only been back twice since then. We loooove this place. Very original decor/atmosphere. It is cozy and romantic but not overdone and the food is absolutely delicious. The service is excellent, we can't say enough good things about this place. Renee always gets a mix of shellfish either over pasta of simmered in a pot with scrumptious broth. A little on the pricey said but well worth it!!
GOOD: Great location, very close to Carmel and Monterey. There are also hiking trails accessible from the property. The the pool and views are gorgeous as the campground is on the side of a mountain. There were two things that kept us from giving this a higher rating; the price and the size of the sites. You are literally on top of your neighbor. Full hook ups, wifi with some cable channels for $65.00.
