Yes that is a logical question you are asking - why would we put Boise, ID and Red Rocks (Denver, CO area) together in the same post? Well the answer - because we can!! Yes we decided to drive from Bend, Oregon to Boise, Idaho (320 miles) for a Boise State football game and then to Morrison, Colorado (845 miles), which is close to Denver, to see Duran Duran at Red Rocks Amphitheater. So yes your math is correct, we drove about 1,200 miles over 4 days to see a football game and a concert - it was so worth it!
We took some scenic pictures along the way from Bend to Boise.
We spent two nights in Boise with the main event being the Boise State football game. That said, we also enjoyed the town and the college campus. We loved the Greenbelt, a 25 mile paved trail system that runs along the river. Tim ran on the Greenbelt each morning and Renee took the girls for long walks. We have visited many towns/cities on this trip that have turned old railroad tracks into bike and running paths, but Boise's is top notch.
After just two nights in Boise we had to leave. We had tickets to a concert in Red Rocks near Denver, Colorado. The drive took over 12 hours (we go slow when pulling Peg) and so we decided to stop overnight at a Walmart (we have stayed at Walmarts 6 or 7 times). We booked three nights at a city campground in Morrison, CO which is about 3 miles from Red Rocks Amphitheater. Like most of the city campgrounds we have stayed at, we loved Bear Creek Lake Park. The campground was nice but the objective of our stay was the concert at Red Rocks, something Renee had circled as a must do before we left St. Petersburg. She did not really care who was playing, she really wanted to see a concert at Red Rocks. As it worked out, she was stoked because Duran Duran was playing!!
