April 15-20, 2015
Well we are on our way, we wanted to get out of the South so we spent one quick night in Colleton, SC and then arrived in Apex, NC at Jordan Lake State Park (click the link to get more information about Jordan Lake Campground). We had the most incredible site #C023 in the Crosswinds section: the best part... our own private beach!!! The dogs enjoyed swimming and we enjoyed reading and relaxing.
We hit the jackpot, there was nobody there on the weekdays but it did fill up on the weekend. Sites are far apart so very private. It will be tough to top this campground!
We met the camp hosts Patty and Barna, they live half the year here and half the year in Punta Gorda, FL, oh and they make sure the bathrooms on loop C are the cleanest in the whole park!!
Renee celebrated her birthday Friday with a 2.5 hour hike, a yoga class at Yoga Garden and pizza from Anna's. Instead of a present from Tim she wanted to do a wine/oyster crawl later this month in Virginia. Thanks mom & dad for the birthday money, it will cover all the oysters and wine we can consume! Lynne and Ray we already used your Walmart gift card and got lots of supplies.
Renee had lunch with her friend Nikki, who lives in Apex with her boyfriend Kelly at Salem Street Pub (click the link for more info about the pub), it was excellent, especially the Duclaw Sweet Baby Jesus Chocolate Peanut Butter Porter. Spivey and Adam I miss beer tasting with you already!! We went to dinner in Apex at Doherty's and we highly recommend both these restaurants for high quality casual fare!
Next stop is The Outer Banks!!
