“It Changed So Fast” – So we had our first travel related issue, Renee got pulled over for speeding. I always drive on days when we are pulling Peg to the next place, so Renee typically drives locally while we are exploring around the area we are staying. So on our way back from Washington D.C. (2 hour drive), Renee got pulled over. Just a warning this time, the officer said. The speed limit changes very quickly from 55 MPH to 25 MPH right before the bridge, Renee did not notice it in time.
"Renee working her magic" - Check out this video, Renee worked the brewer, Jason, until he gave us free take home gifts (I include it in the video) and a free round! She is TV gold.
“Sort of like not all cars are the same….” – We sampled some wine and oysters on Sunday at a few vineyards in Virginia as part of the oyster crawl on the Chesapeake wine trail event. We stopped at Belle Mount Vineyards, a very rustic vineyard. In fact it is an old campground and also now a vineyard. Anyway, it was very country and the wine was all sweet fruit wine. Renee mentioned to the host that only she would be eating oysters, he (referring to Tim) does not like oysters. From behind us we heard, "well it's s sort of like cars, not all are the same. Life would be boring if they were all the same." The older gentleman, Kevin, meant it to be philosophical – we are not all the same…and that is a good thing.
“Gobstoppers” - We stopped to get gas and I decided I needed something, not a snack but something. I saw a box of gobstoppers (jawbreakers) and bought them. Reminded me of when we were kids, we used to save our "change" and when we had enough we would walk up to the corner convenient store and buy candy. We would get as much as we could for the little change we had, jawbreakers was a favorite.
“Broke my ankle” - While setting up the campsite after pulling into Tuckahoe State Park in Maryland, I heard a scream from outside. I looked out Peg's door and there lay Renee on the ground. She had stepped out of Peg and into a hole twisting her ankle. She was in pain. The hole was underneath the outdoor rug, she did not notice it. I almost grabbed my phone to get a quick picture but I knew better as she seemed to be in bad shape. She did recover pretty quickly though boy she was lucky. Later she mentioned the first thought that crossed her mind while laying on the ground was “oh boy this is going to ruin our travel plans!
